Headphone (1)

Nothing Headphone (1) is a pair of over-ear wireless headphones developed by Nothing. Announced in June 2025, the Headphone (1) represents Nothing’s first over-ear audio product, following the company’s previous in-ear models such as the Ear (1), Ear (stick) and Ear (open).

Designed with Nothing’s hallmark transparent aesthetic, the Headphone (1) blends advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with adaptive sound, and features tactile buttons and switches for an enhanced user experience.

Nothing partnered with KEF, a historic British brand in audio with over 60 years of expertise, to craft the sound profile of Headphone (1). Users can also set their own EQ or download shared EQs via the Nothing X app.[1]

History & launch

The Headphone (1) was officially announced on 1 July 2025 alongside Phone (3), via a global livestream event, with pre-orders opening 4 July through nothing.tech and Flipkart, and general availability beginning 15 July.

Nothing also hosted a variety of drop events from 12 July around the world including Nothing Store Soho London[2], Prague, Stockholm, Paris, Madrid, Frankfurt, Utrecht, Vienna, Zurich[3] and Bengaluru[4].

Headphone (1) launched at £299 / €299 / $299, positioning it in the premium mid-range segment, competing with the likes of the Sony WH-1000XM5 and Apple AirPods Max.

Design

Headphone (1) features Nothing’s well known transparent aesthetic on the external face, and a plastic head band with padding for comfort. With white and black variants available, the ear cushions and headband padding always come in black and are manufactured to resist oils and makeup.

The device weighs 329g and does not fold for storage, but comes with a hard, padded case for storage.[5]

Hardware

Headphone (1) features a custom-made 40 mm speaker and high-linearity suspension system with PU surround. The PU surround moves more effectively than traditional materials like PET, creating deeper, richer tones in the low frequencies. Its 8.9 mm width exceeds industry norms, minimising distortion and keeping the driver stable to cast precise vibrations.

At the core, a nickel-plated diaphragm reinforces the driver for improved durability and clarity, keeping sound consistent across every track.

Four microphones work with AI-powered Clear Voice Technology to isolate your voice and suppress surrounding noise.[1]

Controls

The Headphone (1) features tactile switches and buttons, designed to help the user understand a button’s function without the need to remove the headphones.

The roller scrolls to adjust volume, as well as having a single press for playing/pausing media and a long press for toggling ANC modes.

The paddle clicks backwards and forwards to skip tracks with a short click, or scrub through audio when held, providing the audio source supports this feature.

It also features a button on the right ear. Titled “Channel Hop”, it enables the user to switch between recent media and favourites without needing to interact with their phone.

Controls are customisable through the Nothing X app.[1]

Connectivity

Headphone (1) supports LDAC, USB-C audio, and a 3.5 mm jack for high-quality playback across any setup. With Hi-Res Wireless certification and 24-bit/96 kHz precision, it delivers lossless sound.[1]

Battery & charging

Headphone (1) boasts up to 35 hours of playback with Active Noise Cancellation on, or up to 80 hours with it off. A 5 minute charge can give up to 5 hours of listening time.[1] Charge via the included USB C cable.
