The CMF Phone 1 is the first smartphone released under CMF by Nothing, a sub-brand of Nothing focused on functional design, modularity, and accessibility. It represents CMF’s entry into the smartphone market, offering a simplified and customisable alternative to the main Nothing Phone line up.

The device runs Nothing OS, delivering a clean Android experience with minimal visual clutter and a strong emphasis on usability and performance consistency.

The CMF Phone 1 was announced on 8 July 2024 and became widely available from 9 July 2024 as Nothing's first smartphone under its budget-focused sub-brand CMF. It marked CMF’s expansion into the mobile market with a device emphasising customisation, modular design, and solid mid-range performance.

At launch, official pricing varied by market. In Europe, the CMF Phone 1 carried a manufacturer-suggested retail price of €289 for the base configuration. In the United Kingdom, the equivalent retail price was £209. In India, local outlets reported unofficial pricing around ₹21,500 & ₹24,500 for 6 GB/128 GB & 8 GB/128 GB variants. Prices are subject to change by region, retailers, and promotions.^[1]

Colour Options: CMF Phone 1 was released in Black, Light Green, and Orange finishes. Additional replaceable back covers were offered in the same colours, with Blue also available. In the Indian market, the Blue finish was additionally sold as a fully assembled device variant.^[2]

Back Design: CMF Phone 1 features a modular rear design with a replaceable back cover secured using visible screws. This allows users to remove and swap the rear panel using basic tools. Nothing has shared reference dimensions and design guidance with the community, enabling third-party and 3D-printed back covers and accessories. A dedicated Accessory Point on the rear supports screw-mounted add-ons such as stands or grips.^[3]

Front Display: A 6.67-inch Super AMOLED LTPS panel with 1080 x 2400 resolution, adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, 960 Hz PWM frequency, and a peak brightness of 2000 nits. The screen is protected by Dragontail Pro Glass and features a centred punch-hole front camera.^[4]

Build: The device is built with a focus on durability and practicality rather than premium materials. Unlike the glass-backed Nothing Phone series, the CMF Phone 1 uses a simpler construction that supports easier maintenance and customisation. The exposed screws and modular parts are intentional design choices aligned with CMF by Nothing's functional design philosophy. It carries an IP52 rating, weighs 197 g (Black & Light Green finish) or 202 g (Orange & Blue finish), and measures at 8.2 mm thick.^[5]

Processor: CMF Phone 1 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G (4 nm), and a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU.

Memory: Available in configurations of 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage (exclusively in India), 8 GB RAM / 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM / 256 GB storage.

Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, Dual Nano-SIM (no eSIM support), USB-C 2.0, LTE and 5G support.^[6,5]

Rear Camera: A single camera setup with 50 MP wide camera (EIS). Supports up to 4K@30fps.

Front Camera: A 16 MP, wide selfie camera, capable of 1080p@30fps video.

Mono output (no 3.5 mm jack).^[5]

Battery: A 5,000 mAh battery.

Charging: 33W wired, 5W reverse wired charging.^[5]

OS: Launches with Nothing OS 2.6 based on Android 14, with 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security patches.^[4]
